Bromfiets navigation — carriageway and bromfietspad

Bromfiets navigation that starts from the carriageway — and only diverts to a bromfietspad (G12a) when that is legal and faster. No G11 paths, no trunk roads.

Why bromfiets navigation is not the same as driving

A bromfiets (yellow plate, max 45 km/h) rides the carriageway — but not everywhere a car may go. Motorways and trunk roads are banned. On many provincial roads a parallel bromfietspad (G12a) is the better choice.

Car navigation does not know those nuances. Bromfiets navigation must know when the path beats the road, and when you must stay on the carriageway.

G11 vs G12a

On a G11 cycle path (blue sign, snorfiets only) a bromfiets may not ride. On G12a (cycle + moped) it may. Standard maps only see "cycle path" — and sometimes route you illegally.

Scootmaps routes bromfiets on the carriageway by default and uses bromfietspaden only where OSM and NDW signs allow. You see in the route where you ride on path versus road.

FAQ

Can I use Google Maps for bromfiets?
Not as your primary navigator. Car mode ignores trunk road bans; bike mode sends you onto G11 cycle paths. Use bromfiets-specific navigation.
Does Scootmaps support bromfietspaden?
Yes. Where a G12a path is legal and connected in OpenStreetMap, Scootmaps prefers it over a busy carriageway.
Does bromfiets navigation work outside the Randstad?
Yes, for all of the Netherlands. Provincial roads with parallel bromfietspaden are included where mapped in OSM.
