Who is responsible

Scootmaps is operated by Roy and Milan (not yet registered as a company). For privacy questions, contact support@scootmaps.nl.

Until formal company registration, we act as data controllers for this website and the web app.

What we collect

When you use the website or web app we may process: approximate location (if you grant it for routing), routing waypoints sent to our BRouter proxy, and technical logs (IP address, user agent) on our servers.

We store a first-party session identifier, pages you visit, map usage (including calculated routes with start/end points and stops, location permission state), and coarse location snapshots when you grant location — retained up to 90 days, visible to admins only. On the website this runs by default to improve Scootmaps (no ads). In the iOS/Android apps we ask once for optional usage analytics. We may keep a separate first-party presence identifier so we can count active devices (including those who decline analytics) for product operations — not for advertising.

If you sign in with Google, we store your email address and profile details to run your account. Product update emails are on by default; you can turn them off in your profile. We record when you opt in or out.

We use Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights on the marketing site, which may use cookies or similar technologies. Map tiles are loaded via MapTiler.

Why and lawful bases

Routing data is processed to provide navigation (contract / legitimate interest). Account data is processed to provide login and social features (contract). Product update emails use your account email unless you turn them off in profile or via unsubscribe links.

Analytics help us understand usage and improve routing (legitimate interest on the website; consent in the native apps). Declining in the app means we do not set a Scootmaps analytics visitor cookie. We do not use Apple’s App Tracking Transparency / advertising identifiers for this.

Retention and your rights

Server logs are kept for a limited period. Analytics session data is deleted after about 90 days. If you have an account, you can delete it in your profile (dashboard → profile). That removes your account, friends, and saved places; posts and shared routes may remain visible as “[deleted]”. You may also request access, correction, or deletion by emailing us. You may lodge a complaint with the Dutch Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
